You captured the feel very well, but the tune maybe a little to optimistic in places...meh - its better than anything I could do!

The optimism, at the end I assume you mean, the clouds clear away slowly, and then the sailors see a beautiful sunrise, a wonderful sign of the end of their troubles. The end is in D major and then G major so yeah, it does sound happier, on purpose : D
